Five on Friday: The Swing of September

Hi friends! I can't believe how quickly this last week has gone! It may have something to do with the fact that we've had something almost every single night (and more than one thing on a few nights). Life is full and we are blessed. Three weeks of school are in the books, and we are really settling into the swing of September, complete with the Royals, my own softball team, and the wonderful world of almost-fall (I can't say fall yet, since it's been 90 all week). In the spirit of Currently, Kelsie, our week has been about enjoying the moment, reflecting on the blessings we've been given, and dreaming up some really really exciting things for the time to come! Check it out.

1. Our Home
In case you missed the post earlier this week, we celebrated our second "houseiversary" with our annual front yard pic. It has been a fun, productive year complete with siding our new shed in the June mud, turning our guest room into a comfy place for new friends from around the nation, and dreaming up a new dining room. Plus some outdoor work and a few other fun projects. Being a homeowner is a lot of work, but we love it and have had a great time making it ours

2. Softball
If you've ever been around high school softball, you know it's a quick quick season that doesn't last long but is full of multiple games a week. We had three games this week alone. I'm in charge of the C Team crew, and let's just say that I have a new understanding of freshman girls, their drama, and the laughs they bring (seriously, one girl announced loudly from shortstop that she "had to pee" in the middle of our game). But honestly, coaching them has been so much fun, and I feel like I'm in a position to really guide and encourage them, both in life and in softball. Their play on the field is important to me, but I'm even more excited about the opportunity to challenge them to be better people.

Our Snowy Des Moines Visit Last November
3. Des Moines
The nature of our busy week has made me oh so happy that it's labor day weekend, which means no school Monday and some much needed rest time for me and the hubby. We can't wait to meet up with our sweet friends Dan and Natalie in Des Moines, as they are expecting the sweet new addition to their family in the next month. (If you didn't check out the amazing story of how God worked through their infertility, check it out here.) Safe to say it will be a time full of poolside Rook tourneys, lots of laughs, and just spending time talking with some of our very dearest (almost-parents) friends!

Venice with my friend Teresa. Take me back!

4. Trips on Trips on Trips
It's not secret that the hubs and I have the travel bug pretty dang bad right now. I can't believe it's been almost a month since we returned from our 16 day trip around Europe. Still feels like a dream, but we've got awesome photos to prove it wasn't! Next up for us is.....GREECE! Yep. I am leading an EF Tour this July to Greece with students, and our nine day Grecian Odyssey is going to be absolutely incredible. Can't wait. We are also fitting in a little trip to Vegas since we have free flights and hotel nights to use (what a life, eh?), as well as a fun trip to Branson with our friends and their new baby :) Add in a non-stop trip with YoungLife and an Oklahoma City wedding weekend and we are going to be moving and grooving this year. Spring break plans still TBA.

Our gorgeous YL girls at camp. Aren't they beauties??

5. YoungLife
After constant questioning from our pretty pumped kiddos, YoungLife is officially back in business! We had our first little hangout this Wednesday, complete with snacks and a Royals' game in our club space. It was so great just catching up and hanging out with kids. Next week is our "Muckfest" where kids from several schools around KC get together and basically just trash each other with flour, mud, water, shaving cream, and condiments. (We're talking like over 300 kids!). It's a great time for kids to be kids, and to get excited for this semester. Then we start our Club and Campaigners. We're looking forward to an awesome, surprise destination Non-Stop trip, as well as announcing where we're going to camp this coming summer (it's going to be amazing!!).

Welp, that's what's up with us, friends. So much to be thankful for, so much to look forward to, and so much to enjoy and experience. Happy Friday, y'all. Hope you have a blessed labor weekend and get some rest!

Currently,
Kelsie

  3. It absolutely was so great merely finding upwards and also getting together with youngsters. A few weeks will be our own "Muckfest" in which youngsters coming from many universities about KC gather and also basically just rubbish the other person together with flour, off-road, h2o, shaving product, and also condiments.
