November Recap

It's the last day of November and I can't even believe it! Where are these months going? We really got into the Christmas spirit earlier than I ever have this year, and I'm loving it. I'm excited to share our little Christmas holiday home tour here soon. November has been all about family: our little man turned 9 months, we celebrated Aaron's birthday, visited Eli's first YoungLife camp, and shared a fabulous Thanksgiving with our families. Here's Eli's update, along with our November fun!

Eli's Nine Month Update

It's our last single digit month, and I have such mixed emotions. It's a little sad watching Eli grow up so quickly, but I also know that it's the biggest blessing to be along for the ride. And I really do feel like he gets more fun and engaging each and every month! We had an official doctor's appointment, and Eli is weighing in at 17 pounds and 15 ounces, and is 28 1/4 inches long. His head is in the 53rd percentile, while his weight and height are about 20th and 30th percentiles respectively. He's staying along the growth chart quite nicely, and is getting so big! And isn't he just so happy?

Eli is still wearing size three diapers, but I think we're about to move him up pretty soon because he's been having more blowouts than normal now that he's on the move. He is army crawling, where he drags one side along like he's wounded. Each day he seems to figure it out a little more. He's starting to fill out his 9 months clothes, so I'm about to put him into some 12 month outfits (what!!?).

He visited his first YoungLife Camp (see below), got his first cold, and started getting into everything. He also had a blast at our 20s and 30s Friendsgiving, where he kicked off his socks and played with cups while kicking the wall for a solid hour. And for his first Halloween, E was a cute little cow. Eli loves shaking his head "no, saying his favorite (and only) word "dada", and rolling balls with Mama. He is the greatest blessing and we are more in love every day!

Clearwater Cove YoungLife Weekend

This month, our little family of three made a road trip down to Clearwater Cove YoungLife camp to lead music for a Fall Weekend. I was a little nervous about leaving on a Friday after teaching school, driving four hours with E, and then having to put him to bed before leading music at our first club at midnight. First of all, I never stay up that late, and second of all, there isn't a tired like working mama teacher tired on a Friday! But regardless, we had a really great time! Eli was well-loved on and cared for, and he even made it into his first skit! We were so grateful to see so many sweet friends while we were there, and they were an awesome help with little man. It was so much fun, and we hope Eli can visit another YoungLife Camp again soon!

Thanksgiving Fun

Eli's first Thanksgiving was one for the books! He had a great time getting to see both sets of his grandparents, and he really enjoyed waving the Black Friday Ads in the air and tearing them up. I got to actually participate in the family football game this year, instead of being all time hiker, and we really just enjoyed having five days off together as a family. We managed to get some projects and cleaning done, do some shopping, and soak in lots of snuggles. Safe to say, we are already looking forward to Christmas Break!

Christmas will be here before we know it, and I'm truly LOVING experiencing it with little man. He's amazed by the tree, the lights, just everything. It's so fun to see the world through his eyes, and it truly brings me so much joy! I hope that your December brings just as much joy to you as I know it will to us!

October Recap

October was a big month around here! We had parent teacher conferences, two weddings (one of which was out of town and Aaron was a groomsmen), Eli's Baptism, Fall Fest, Trunk or Treat, a half marathon, and Halloween. Phew. It was a full, fun month, but I'm also glad that the last week has been much more laid back. Here's our October recap!

Eli's Eight Month Update

Eli turned EIGHT months old in October, and I can hardly believe it! We went another month without  an official well visit, but Eli is weighing in at about 17.2 lbs. I'm excited to see his official numbers at his nine month appointment in November. He's started wearing 9 month clothes, is still rockin' size 3 diapers, and can now sit alone without toppling over! He is rolling and rolling anywhere and everywhere, and sometimes he'll get up on all fours and rock a little bit. He is so close to crawling, which is both exciting and a little bit scary!

Eli got his first two teeth this month, but really didn't have issues with being fussy or waking up a lot (fingers crossed that this continues). He also cheered on Mama at her half marathon, and had his first sleepover at Grandmas's (which went really well for all of us). Eli visited the church nursery for the first time, and was a huge hit. He also got a tear-free flu shot, meaning that he must not take after Mama and her needle-related anxiety. One particularly big thing this month was getting baptized. It was a very special day, and it is our biggest prayer that Eli would grow to know and love the Lord with all that he has: that he would "make Jesus famous" in all that he does. Pretty cool that Eli Robert literally means "my God" and "bright fame". We are so thankful for ur incredible church family, family, and friends, who are all committed to helping us raise our son up in the faith.

E loves saying "dadadada" over and over, jumping up and down, shaking his head no, and trying to eat Mama and Daddy's food off of their plates. He's still nursing, eating, and napping like a champ, and seems to be a big fan of his friends at daycare. All in all, we are so blessed with our sweet little boy, and we have definitely lucked out as he has been a healthy, happy, easy baby thus far (knock on wood). We are looking forward to the next adventures in crawling and pulling up. He's just the best!

My First Half Marathon!

Guys! I officially ran 13.1 miles without dying. In fact, I loved it, and ran a lot faster than I anticipated. I set out with a goal of 2 hours, which I thought was challenging, yet doable (especially 7 months after having a baby and 5 month after getting back to running). I had no idea what to expect, but I ended up running it in 1 hr and 55 minutes, and I honestly felt like I held back a little. I had the best fans, babysitter, and running buddy. And, now I'm officially crazy and I've already signed up for another in March! I'm excited to hopefully set a new PR, and am happy to have found a new competitive outlet that I enjoy!

Halloween Fun

Last year I was a pregnant cow and Aaron was a farmer, so this year we just added a little baby cow to the mix. We attended one Halloween party and a Trunk or Treat, and then dressed up at home to hand out candy on Halloween night. Eli wore his costume all three nights without complaint. I think he was the cutest little cow around (🎶Eli-Eli-O🎶). It was so fun to bring a little one into the mix, and I'm excited to come up with a new family costume next year.
